{15 - 21 september 2013 | week 38}

30 September 2013

It's week 38 and it's the last week of Summer.

What happened this week ?

We started our home schooling on Wednesday for English. At present there is no school on a Wednesday in our commune in France. This will change for the next school year.  I have introduced a *fun* hour of English for the children.  There was a sporting outing on Thursday afternoon. On Friday I had my hair cut - about 10 cms off ! Saturday was Zachary's first football tournament of the season. I started my running programme this week too. Having lost some weight over the summer by being more active and watching what I have been eating, I am keen to lose some more and get back into my running. I really enjoyed Cross Country as a child, representing my County at school level, so I am using this as a positive path to fitness.

17 September 2013

It's week 37 and it's Week in the Life !

What happened this week ?

We joined in with Ali Edward's Week in the Life from Monday through to Sunday so other than a journal card about this, the rest of my Project Life spread is filler cards and embellishments.  I designed the weekly title card using Chalk fonts and my spread moves from the black chalk effect through to muted grey  and gold tones.

{1 - 7 September 2013 | week 36}

8 September 2013

It's week 36 and it's back to school !

What happened this week ?

Sunday was windy so we thought we would try flying our kites. We had lots of fun and Zachary's new one looks spectacular when in the air.  We had a BBQ for tea, probably the last one of the summer.

Monday we spent getting ready for school, checking through the lists to make sure that everyone had all the right things in their new school bags. And Tuesday morning it was {la rentree}. First we took Zachary and Noah to Virieu le Petit. Noah has just moved up to this school and was very excited about his first day at the {big school}. Then I took Molly to school at Brenaz. This is the first year that she is at the school without any brothers being with her. She starts in {cours preparatoire} this year, lots of reading and writing and homework for the first time !

Wednesday was a busy day for me, lots of ordering of new things ! A Macbook, a Silhouette Cameo, an Instax 8 and new trail running shoes.

The rest of the week was taken up with school, meeting new teachers and some internet classes for me.  Not a lot of photo opportunities this week - must try harder next week !

I have filled one album since May, so I finished off the old album and started the new album with two of my recent favourite photos.  I followed a tutorial by Elise Cripe on how to print a 12x12 photo to fit into a Pocket page.

I also did not cheat and resort back to my comfort zone Pocket A, I continued with the D on the left side.

Week 1 of Letterpress class by Studio Calico started with the basics and whilst I am missing a part of my letterpress platform, I jumped right in there and tried my hand at some of the techniques.  I especially love the ombre printing technique that I produced on the {camera/oh happy day} card.

Also starting this week where the Project Life Lessons from Big Picture Class and I included the manifesto as a filler card - the words are perfect!

There is journalling on my {happy place} card but I have omitted it for privacy purposes.

{25 - 31 August 2013 | week 35}

1 September 2013

It's week 35 and it's the last week of the summer holidays !

What happened this week ?

There was a {dress up} day on Sunday, Molly decided she would be a Princess and Noah was a Storm Trooper, they had lots of fun. A lot of the week was taken up with bike practise and on Friday Molly got a new bicycle.

On Wednesday we went to the Observatoire de la Lebe at Sutrieu. We learnt all about the sun, which was sadly lacking on this day but we did look through a telescope and see the lake at Annecy.

Thursday was the last market day of the holidays and the children painted little pictures on easels to put in their bedrooms.  On Friday they painted some masks, which they enjoyed.

On Saturday we cleaned up the pool and took down the tent :(

Techniques ~

I used Pockets D this week ! I moved out of my A comfort zone and hope to do this more often.

Paislee Press released {makebelieve} so I couldn't resist mixing this set with the new Neopolitan release by Dear Lizzy for Becky Higgins.

Week 4 of Toolbox was about misting so I created a filler card using my new Big Shot machine and mists. I also did some more stitching on my cards.

Persnickety Prints offered a freebie {infographics} bundle and I used this to create a summary card about the summer.  I am a visual learner and I just love the use of graphics ! The children each completed a card for me that I have added behind mine and I printed out a bigger version for their bedroom walls. We all agreed that we've had a fantastic summer 2013.
