project life 2014 | week 6

24 February 2014

Here in France we are experiencing some extremely grey weather. So I brightened up my Project Life week 6 with a rainbow effect !

I had this awesome watercolour paper card from my Studio Calico monthly kit and was unsure what to do with it until I hit upon using it as a weekly title card. So I got out my watercolour paints and had a little fun. When it was completely dry I stamped up the dates and added a few coloured embellishments. Really pleased with the result ~

Here is the spread in full so you can experience the rainbow :)

This week we went to pick up some more ducks, 3 girls this time named Jemima, Sophia and Rose to be companions for George. Looking forward to all the duck eggs :) Nat is still off work, he went for a MRI scan at Chambery during this week and the results showed that he has a trapped nerve and needs rest for it to recover (as of today he is back at work, so fingers crossed he is mended).

I used cards and embellishments from Studio Calico, CitrusTwist and Freckled Fawn. My calendar card is by Paislee Press with a free word file from Caylee Grey.

Thanks for looking and have a great week.x

cards | case study no 179 and others

23 February 2014

Today I am showing four cards that I made very recently and they are totally different in colours !

First up is the card for the Case Study Challenge number 179. Again our muse is Danielle Flanders and this is the card that I created as inspired by her ~

I created the bunting using a Mama Elephant border stamp and Mama Elephant inks, so soft and pretty. I then cut up the stamped card to create bunting and added in some vellum triangles too. This I machine sewed to my card. I stamped and heat embossed in white a sentiment from a Clearly Besotted set and added some gold/white twine, some gold sparkle candies and white stars. Finally a splatter of Heidi Swapp colour shine finished it off :)

Using the rest of the stamped up card I created a second card. This time I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on to vellum, added this over the stamped card and added some candies and mini jewels from Freckled Fawn.

My final two cards are totally inspired by the amazing Jennifer McGuire and this post here. You cannot beat sparkly rainbow cards on grey Winter days ~

Hope you enjoyed my cards and see you tomorrow for Week 6 of my Project Life.x

cards | case study no 178 | part 2

17 February 2014

Happy Monday ! Over the weekend I found time to create another card for the current Case Study challenge. You can see my other entry here.

For this card I was inspired by the colours that Danielle had used. So I used Wendy Vecchi embossing paste with a Prima template on dark grey cardstock. After heat embossing a sentiment in white on a tag I then set to work with my watercolour paints.  The embossed sentiment produced a relief effect. I then added a ribbon and some candies and a metal heart from my OhDeerMe embellishment kit ~

Here are some detail shots, I really love using the embossing paste to add dimension ~

Thanks for looking.x

project life 2014 | week 5

15 February 2014

This week marks the start of February ! Just like that January was over, wow ! I went with a colour scheme of light orange and aqua this week and I just had to use those Amy Tan thickers on the title card - love those ! I have also signed up for the *life|scripted* class over at Studio Calico and am really looking forward to learning the brush script with Kal.

So what happened this week ? More snow and ice, which is impinging on my running, but I'm getting out there when I can. My husband is still on sick leave from work with his back troubles (hoping this is sorted very soon!). We picked up three Indian Runner ducks and so Max, Melanie and Katrin have joined the household. We had a trip to Aix-les-Bains on the Wednesday to fetch them and they are settling in nicely. They were a little bit confused by the snow ! I took the *stenciled* card class online and this was super fun. Molly made an awesome hat at school.

This week I used cards and embellishments from CitrusTwist, Freckled Fawn (OhDeerMe kit), Elles Studio and Studio Calico.

Thanks for looking and happy weekend.x

cards | case study no 178 | part 1

14 February 2014

Happy Valentines Day !

I couldn't resist entering the Case Study challenge number 178 as again we are using the designs from February's muse Danielle Flanders, who's work is so awesome.  Here is my entry based on the inspiration for this week ~

It's a shaker card ! The paper is Printshop by Shanna Noel for Studio Calico. I added Wink of Stellar to the word *love*, but my camera is struggling with the low light - we had a major hail storm yesterday !

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.x

cards | clearly besotted feb 2014 challenge | part 2

12 February 2014

My second card for February's challenge is in celebration of a new baby girl. Mabel was born yesterday to Abbie and Darren, so I jumped at the chance to create a card using the Clearly Besotted Special Delivery stamp and die set. Here is the card ~

I die cut a circular window and added some pretty paper from MyMindsEye.  I stamped using Mama Elephant and Hero Arts ink and coloured in the stork using my Distress Inks.

The inside of the card reads ~

Thanks for looking and I'll be back later in the week with my latest Project Life spread.x

cards | clearly besotted feb 2014 challenge | part 1

11 February 2014

This week I was excited to receive my stamps and dies from the February update at Clearly Besotted stamps. Stephanie and her team think up such great stamping ideas and the CT give such great inspiration.

This month I chose the Superstar stamp set and the the Special Delivery stamp and die set. With this month's challenge in mind, which is based around a mood board, this is the first card that I created ~

Thanks for looking and I'll be back tomorrow with another creation.x

Here are my materials ~

cards | case study no 177 | winner !

9 February 2014

Inspired by Danielle Flanders who is February's designer for Case Study Challenge No 177, I created this card ~

I created it using gold adhesive foil with a die by Kelly Purkey. I embossed the sentiment on vellum and added two black arrows.  Here was the featured creation that was our inspiration ~

This was lots of fun ! Thanks for looking.x

UPDATE : 12/02/2014

I was chosen as the winner - very proud !

cards | love | part 3

7 February 2014

Hello today from a very wet France! With Valentines Day fast approaching and having been totally inspired from the Stenciled class, I have been making some quick and fun cards.  I have a total of five to show you today :)

I watched this tutorial by Shari Carroll on the SimonSaysStamp blog on how to make a box card. I do have a BigShot machine but I thought I could use my Silhouette to cut the hearts and template and this is what I came up with ~

I used the gold foil adhesive to cut the three hearts and the phrase that I created using the text option in the Silhouette software.

Secondly, using the negative space from the hearts cut for the above card, I constructed this very simple and quick card. I layered the gold foil on cardstock to give it some dimension. The patterned paper is from Maggie Homes *flea market* for Crate Paper ~

The next card was inspired by this card by CT member Suzy over at Studio Calico. I created my background using a mask and distress inks. I then stitched a sheet of vellum over the top to soften the effect and embossed a sentiment ~

My last two are based around this awesome tutorial by Laura Bassen ! I love shaker cards so much ! Again I didn't have the die but used my Silhouette Cameo to make a card the same size and I used the free font Lobster 1.4, which is similar to the Kelly Purkey die ~

My final card was based on the above and made with Valentines Day in mind. The cards that I made are the perfect size for Project Life pages too at 3 by 4 inches ~

To finish the card I added a gold rub on sentiment from Pebbles and some candies by Queen&Co. Finally I added *Wink of Stella* to the love sentiment.

I hope you liked all these cards, have a great weekend :)
