summer's here - scream for ice cream !!!

31 July 2014

Who can resist ice cream!?! Not me and so I am joining in with the Double Click Skittles challenge number 1.

Here is my card ~

I followed a technique shown very recently by Jennifer McGuire about colouring embossing paste.  Here I used a stamp set by Clearly Besotted Stamps with Wendy Vecchi embossing paste. I used Hero Arts ink for the cone and Studio Calico inks for the ice creams. I added some Judkins iridescent sparkle on the embossing paste before it was dry and some sprinkles from the Papertrey Ink MakeitMarket kit.

I combined two sentiments by 4enscrap and Feuille de Papier, stamping them both in Versamark ink and then heat embossing with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder. I have added glossy accents to the cherry on the top of the ice creams and a sprinkle of sequins from Studio Calico.

I added this with foam adhesive to a purple card base from SimonSaysStamp.

Thanks for looking, finally the sun is with us today :)

simon says .... emboss it !

29 July 2014

Fresh back from holiday and we had a fabulous time! I couldn't resist the latest challenge over at SimonSaysStamp Wednesday's blog. So I got out and played with my embossing paste and powders!

Here is my card ~

For this card I used a stencil from Memory Box with the Wendy Vecchi embossing paste. Before the paste was dry I sprinkled on some Judikins Iridescent embossing powder and then left the paste to dry for a short time before using my heat gun.

For my card base I used a top folding Neenah Desert Storm and first stamped this with a background stamp by IndigoBlu. On top of this I stamped with Versamark a sentiment from My Favorite Things *Blue Skies Ahead* stamp set and then added Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and heat set it.

I cut my embossed piece down to form a panel and popped this up on foam adhesive and added a bow.

Here is the panel in more detail ~

Thanks for looking. I will be back shortly with a mini album about our favourite holiday beach. I just need some sunshine to photograph it - unfortunately we left the sun somewhere around Provence and are experiencing autumnal weather at present in the Rhone Alpes!

voyage mini album

16 July 2014

We go on holiday on Saturday! And of course this calls for a mini album! This year I am prepared in advance and have spent the last week creating a little *roadbook* to record our travels and times whilst we are there.

Last year I kept a journal on my phone and took lots of iPhone photos but this year I am taking my Instax mini 8 and this mini.

I got the basics of construction from an article in the HS14 issue of Esprit Scrapbooking. My album uses magnetic discs from Basic Grey to open and close it.  To decorate the cover I used a gesso base and then some embossing paste and a couple of SimonSaysStamp masks. When this was dry I got out my Neocolor watercolour pencils and added some colour. To this I added a die cut and a little glassine envelope with some pastel sea inspired die cuts (dies by 4enscrap).

Here are some photos showing the details ~

So now I just have to tackle the mountain of ironing and get the bags packed! But you have to get your priorities right and scrap first! The weather promises to be glorious and I'm looking forward to bare feet in the sand!

See you when I get back.x

I'm entering this into the SimonSaysStamp Wednesday Challenge Spots & Dots

project life 2014 | week 25

7 July 2014

I must apologise if my blog posts are a little sporadic over the next couple of months as we are now into the school holiday and vacation time :) I am hoping to keep up my Project Life each week but I may not be able to post here weekly. That being said next week (week 26) marks the halfway point in the year and so onto the second album. This week I choose the photo that will be my "back cover" and printed that out at 12 by 12 inch size and put it in place. I am planning a series of summary cards for the "title" page in album two, which I am working on at present.

So week 25 and I'm loving pink again (never have too much) and this week teaming it with some yellow and greens. We have had an awesome amount of soft fruit recently and I have been busy making jam and jelly :)

This week saw us travel to Motz in Savoie for the end of school year trip. The children did roller skating in the morning and in the afternoon we had a nature walk. The weather was warm, not too hot and everybody had fun :) I walked over 15,000 steps that day, recorded on my Fitbit Flex :)

And details ~

This week I used my Studio Calico HelloHello kits and my CitrusTwist June kit. My title card features a die cut from Papertrey Ink. I used the stencil from the HelloHello scrapbook kit and a technique taught by Jennifer and Kristina for highlight stamping :)

Thanks for looking and have a great week.x

sending happy mail

4 July 2014

I was lucky to be able to snap up one of the awesome SimonSaysStamp July card kits and this week I have had lots of fun using it. The kit comes with a sheet of amazing inspiration from the DT too.

The SimonSaysStamp Wednesday Challenge group this week are focusing on shaker cards so I thought I would use my kit and whip up something for the challenge :) I love shaker cards, who doesn't?

Keeping to the theme/colour of the kit, here is my entry ~

Love all the glitter and the red, white and blue sequins :) Here is a detailed shot of the shaker element ~

This kit is really good value for money, so far I have made another 12 cards including a set of 4 matching note cards for a future birthday present. I'll be back with a post shortly showing these :)

I still have plenty of paper and embellishments left too. I love that there is an ink pad included as I haven't tried Simon's ink before and it's a great introduction. It's my first time playing with the kit and I hope I will be able to play with more soon :)

Thanks for looking and Happy Birthday America.x

love is the bridge

3 July 2014

Ok so I admit I am a big Mama Elephant (ME) fan! I remember discovering their blog and products and am seriously wowed each month with what the DT comes up with. And now they are introducing monthly challenges!

So I couldn't resist getting out my ME stamps and dies and playing along. This is my take on the photo inspiration ~

First I got out my distress inks and created the back ground, over which I stamped the cityscape image from Central Park stamp set. Then I constructed a shaker card using the bridge image from Sightseeing stamp set. I stamped this on a transparency and on vellum and embossed in Ranger Platinum powder. I also stamped the sentiment from this set in the same embossing powder using Versamark ink.  I added some sprinkles from my Papertrey Ink kit to create an allusion of water and foam under the bridge. Finally I popped it all on some SimonSaysStamp card stock.

This was our inspiration ~

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x
