hang in there ...

27 August 2014

I'm here today with another entry for the MamaElephant August 2014 challenge which is all about Watercolour and Birthdays. My card was inspired a technique taught recently in the Stretch Your Stamps 2 Online Card class by Debby Hughes. Her cards are amazing :)

For my card I have used the MamaElephant *Up and Away* stamp set and my Gansai Tambi watercolour set. Here is my card ~

Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop

25 August 2014

Today I am joining in with the Papertrey Ink August blog hop challenge. The challenge was to create something inspired by the photo on the blog. The colour scheme is white, pink and gold! Well I couldn't resist that - add in embossing and I was hooked!

Here are my cards for this challenge ~

My first card ~

For the first one I die cut a small butterfly from the Life is Beautiful set and then heat embossed it with Ranger's Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

I then backed this with a couple more die cuts to give it dimension and adhered just the centre of the butterfly to a stitched die cut panel in Berry Sorbet and stamped a sentiment from the Ballerina Beauty stamp set. This I added to a white card base with dimensional adhesive.

My second card ~

Again I used the Life is Beautiful set (can you tell how much I love that set!). First I embossed the large butterfly on white card stock and then using Versamark ink and Ranger's Liquid Platinum embossing powder I used the outline stamp to add the details in side the butterfly's wings. I did this three times to really make the gold embossing powder stand out.

I then added a sentiment from the Bold Bouquet set stamped in Raspberry Fizz ink. I backed this panel with a piece of patterned paper from the 6x6 LemonLush paper pad by Studio Calico and then added these to a white card base.

Hope you enjoyed my cards and if you leave a comment here linking your blog I can check out your cards too :) Have a great day.x

if you want to know ...| scrapbook layout

23 August 2014

I'm back today with a scrapbook layout! I know, it's been a while and I do like the quick creativeness of cards but I have some special holiday photos to scrapbook and yesterday I felt the urge to get out my papers :)

I spotted a cut file recently in the Silhouette online store by Kolette Hall that was perfect to scrap about our summer vacation. I had lots of fun with Noah taking this photo and I knew it needed some special scrapbooking treatment. I teamed this with some pretty papers from my recent Studio Calico scrapbook kit. Adding in a few embellishments and some gold splatters and it was finished. Quick and easy, that's always good during school breaks with limited time for scrapping!

Here is my layout and a close up ~

I have combined a few of my recent kits from Studio Calico here, their choice of embellishments and papers in each kit are awesome. Not only that, you can combine kits too as I have done here.

Entering this in the weekly challenge over at Studio Calico.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.x

MakeitMonday | Using cover plate negatives

20 August 2014

Hi all and I'm here today with a card for Papertrey Ink's MIM#177 challenge using cover plate negatives on your card.

My card is very CAS today and super quick to make. I'm thinking of making a set of these for Christmas presents too :)

Here is my take ~

I used the PTI cover plate stars die for my background. I used this cover plate/die last week too - I love it, so versatile! On top I added a vellum tag using a die from SimonSaysStamp. Over the top I placed a die cut in black card stock from the Wet Paint set. A little sparkling twine completes the card :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x

friendship ...

19 August 2014

Only two weeks left of the summer vacation, I cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by! We are out and about having fun and ticking items off our summer bucket list. Last week we visited the Parc des Oiseaux, always a favourite :)

Today I am here with a couple of cards made using Altenew's Modern Beadwork stamp set. This set is amazing, there are so many possibilities with these stamps and I finally got a chance to play with it over the weekend. I made two cards, both are based around the same simple design of colour, white and one layer.

Here are my cards ~

I used ink by Papertrey Ink as I love their vibrant colours :)

I added WinkofStellar glitter pen to the heart in the middle to make it stand out ~

When I get a moment I will pop these in the shop!

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x

introducing ... ohlalacards

15 August 2014

Hi all and hurray for the weekend! Today in France we have a bank holiday but unluckily the sun has chosen to take a vacation and we have not seen much of it this week. It does promise to be better for the weekend though :)

Today I am here with a little announcement. Those that follow me on Instagram may have seen that yesterday I opened up a little shop on etsy. My cards are beginning to overflow and of course I don't want to stop making them!

So I decided to see if they could find good homes. The cards that I list are ones that I would be happy to receive myself. Namely good quality card stock and embellishments and beautifully stamped and/or embossed. Each come with a quality envelope too.

I have named my shop ohlalacards - well I live in France!

So pop by and have a little look and maybe you will see something that you like. They are all priced very reasonable and all cards are shipped in padded envelopes. I would like to say a big thank you to my first customers yesterday also :)

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.x

MakeitMonday | Backgrounds with embossing paste

13 August 2014

Today I am joining in with Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday number 176 backgrounds with embossing paste. It is Laura Bassen's first MIM and she rocked it!

Here is my card ~

I used the cover plate stars die to create a stencil for my embossing paste. Then I coloured the Wendy Vecchi paste with PTI inks in Hibiscus Burst, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold.

When that was dry I trimmed down my panel and added a die cut in Berry Sorbet card stock from the wet paints die cuts and stamped a sentiment from the matching stamp set.

I then popped my panel on dimensional adhesive and added this to a Berry Sorbet card base from PTI.

Here is a close up of the embossing paste ~

stretch your stamps 2 | happy birthday

11 August 2014

We are into week two of Stretch Your Stamps 2, the latest class by Online Card Classes. Today we are looking at Graphic Stamps and I do not have any of these in my stamp collection - so I had to improvise!

I very recently received the Papertrey Ink latest Make it Market kit County Fair and I found some stamps in there that I could use if I placed them on my acrylic block upside down. So here is my card for my homework ~

I am in awe of Laura Bassen, how cool is this technique?

I used coloured inks by Papertrey Ink and Versafine Black Onyx for the sentiment which is by Clearly Besotted Stamps.

For my next card I turned the stamp over and used it how it was intended and the sentiment for this one is from Papertrey Ink's Life is Beautiful set ~

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x

wherever you go ... | MTDS August challenge

10 August 2014

Hello and happy weekend! Today I am showing a card that I made for the Make the Day Special August challenge. This month's challenge is a colour challenge and here is my card ~

I based my card around colour palette A.

First I took a piece of Neenah solar white card stock and masked off an area around the edge. Then I used my distress inks and mini blending tools to create a sunset background and water in the foreground.

MaketheDaySpecial stock MamaElephant products and I used their products to create the scene on my card. First I used the cityscape stamp from the Central Park set,  stamped in Ranger Archival black ink. Over the top of this I added a piece of vellum cut with the Femme Frames die (shortened to fit the card). Onto this I stamped the bridge die from the Sightseeing set in versamark ink and heat embossed it in Ranger Liquid Platinum. I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed this with Hero Arts white embossing powder. Lastly I stamped and die cut the bus and added it to the scene with dimensional adhesive.

I really enjoyed this challenge, I love the colours and a chance to play with my distress inks :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x

stretch your stamps 2 | merci

6 August 2014

As soon as I saw the next class from online card classes, I signed up immediately! Jennifer and Kristina are such awesome teachers and they are always joined by other inspiring card makers.

On Monday and Tuesday we were concentrating on getting the most out of background stamps and Shari Carroll showed a technique incorporating distress inks - one of my favourite mediums!

Here is the card that I produced ~

I love the way distress inks work with water, you are never quite sure what you are going to produce and when the card stock dries it looks even better!

Here is a close up, the butterfly die cuts are from Papertrey Ink ~

I'm impatient for Day 3! Thanks for looking.x

oh happy day

5 August 2014

Today I am joining in with the MamaElephant & Me August challenge Watercoloring & Birthdays.

You probably know by now that one of my favourite techniques to use on cards is watercolouring and I absolutely love MamaElephant stamps - so I really enjoyed making this card.

Here it is ~

First of all I took a piece of watercolour card stock and then stamped an image from Clearly Besotted stamps set Fresh Flowers in versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Then I painted the flower and background using the Gansai-Tambi-24 watercolour set. This is incredibly relaxing whilst sitting in the garden on a sunny afternoon.

When completely dry I selected a sentiment from Mama Elephant's Bountiful Blessings set and another from 4enscrap and stamped these in versamark ink then embossed with Rangers Liquid Platinum embossing powder. I then trimmed the card stock with the Femme Frames die and added this panel to a top folding Neenah Desert Storm card base.

Here is a close up of the watercolouring ~

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x

project life 2014 | weeks 26, 27 & 28

4 August 2014

Hello again and I'm playing catch up with my project life pages! I am keeping up to date but photographing them and blogging them seems to take a little bit longer during the summer holidays!

So I have three weeks here to show, let's start with week 26 and this is the last page in my first album for 2014. I have tried to keep inserts at a minimum, having discovered a love for mini albums to record our holidays and special events. The colour theme for this week is mainly black and white, centred around the *to be continued* card from Studio Calico.

Week 26 left side ~

Right side ~

I finished off the back page of the album with a photo of the local beauty spot we visited this week on our walk. I used Photoshop to size the photo to 12x12 inches and then cropped and printed each part to fit in the individual pockets.

Week 27 left side ~

Week 27 right side ~

This week was the last week of school and Molly finished at Brenaz!

Week 28 left side ~

Week 28 right side ~

First week of the summer holiday's and we got new bikes! I got a shiny red one, these are specific road bikes and we're looking forward to some trips during the school break. This week I used cards from Papertrey Ink's Monthly Moments set.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.x

sending happy mail - all the cards !!

3 August 2014

A few weeks ago I was excited to receive my first SimonSaysStamp monthly card kit. I had been thinking of trying one for a while and the lure of an ink pad included in the kit pushed me to order :)

The first card I made was the shaker card for the Wednesday challenge group. The kit comes full of awesome embellishments and I used as many as possible to make a set of cards, dipping into my own stash of card stock for card bases.

Here are some of the cards, inspired also by the sheet of ideas that accompanies each kit. This one was inspired by the amazing Laura Bassen ~

Inspired by Nichol Magouirk ~

The next month's kit is all about Summer with a cute stamp set featuring ice cream and ices and some Distress Ink markers. I am hoping to play with that this week :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day.x

l'estagnol 2014 mini

1 August 2014

Finally some sun here in the Rhone Alpes so I'm here today to show my mini album I created this week :) Our favourite beach on holiday this year was l'estagnol and I wanted to record some special photos that I took. This mini album was inspired by one that I saw recently in Esprit Scrapbook HS14 by Julie Blanc.

Mini warning - there are a lot of photos and a little video!

The back page is covered in cork ~

The inside pages are folded to create inner pockets which hold photos. To access these I created tabs to add to the top of the photos ~

I also made the mini album into a 15 second flipagram video, you can watch it here or in HD on youtube
