Stampin' Up! Starter Kit ideas | the beginning

26 February 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog.

There is no better time to join Stampin' Up! than during the current Sale-A-Bration. My recent blog post here details the fabulous offer that is running until the end of March 2015.

In summary you can choose 175€/£130 worth of product and only pay 129€/£99 and receive some free gifts and a free business starter kit, all delivered free of charge with no additional purchase required or risk involved.

So I am planning a few blog posts over the next week detailing ideas for your *Starter Kit* because it is fully customisable - that's right - you get to choose what is in it! Which I think is pretty awesome!

Today I am concentrating on what you could choose from the current Annual and Occasions Spring/Summer catalogue if you are new to card making and paper crafting.

These are the items that I think will be really useful in giving you an introduction to the quality products that Stampin' Up! offers. So here they are:

Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Stampin' Trimmer (129722), Acrylic block starter set (129851), Bone folder (102300), Momento ink pad (132708), Envelope Punch Board (133774), Tombow liquid glue (110755), Sticky Strip adhesive (104294), Note tag punch (135860), 2013/15 inks & card stock - 5 ink pads & 20 sheets - 4 of each colour (131293), Whisper White card stock - 40 sheets (106549)

AND you get to choose your gifts and my suggestion would be the following from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue:

Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Simply Wonderful stamp set (wood 139125, clear 139128) French & German versions available, Best Day Ever DSP - 2 each of 6 double sided designs (138633)

So I here you ask - why have you chosen these?

Here is my thinking:

  • You have a starter set of acrylic blocks to mount your set of seven free stamps
  • The black ink is of excellent quality and the five other coloured inks are beautiful neutral colours
  • You have the best paper trimmer on the market (in my opinion) and an excellent quality bone folder to helping with the folds
  • You have an Envelope Punch Board to create amazing envelopes and gift boxes (yes you can do this with the EPB)
  • You have a note tag punch to make gift tags or to embellish cards
  • There is some matching card stock (20 sheets A4 size) to the ink pads and white card stock (40 sheets A4 size)
  • The two glues are great to get you started in crafting
  • And finally some pretty patterned Designer Series Paper to play with

So what do you think? What would you choose?

If you are ready to take advantage of this amazing offer then click here and complete the application form (you must be resident in the UK, France, Germany, Austria or Holland to be able to join the Europe arm of Stampin' Up!).

AND I will personally send you a Sweetheart Punch as a welcome gift.

I have more details here in English and ici pour la français that may answer any of your questions, but if you have more please contact me here.

Have an amazing day.x

stampin' up! super joining offer

24 February 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am here with more details of the super offer that Stampin' Up! has on currently. If you purchase your *Starter Kit* you can choose £130/175€ worth of product and only pay £99/129€. That's right - you get £31/46€ of goods absolutely free with no risk or requirement for a future purchase!

You can make up the *Starter Kit* from any current catalogue items or items on Weekly Deals or Clearance Rack - it is absolutely your choice!

In addition you can choose a free project kit from the Occasions catalogue or two items from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue!

So money off and free gifts - how awesome is that!

All that is required is the completing of an online application form and your goodies will be on the way to your home. Stampin' Up! will also include free of charge a business starter kit.

If you want to continue to be demonstrator then you will need to buy yourself/sell to others £225/300€ of net goods each three months. For the quarter that you join in this is waived and any purchases/sales you make adds towards the following quarter.

What happens if you cannot do this? Absolutely nothing! Stampin' Up! will give you another *grace* month to try and reach these targets. If you can't or don't want to, then you simply stop being a demonstrator. This means that you have to buy Stampin' Up! items at full catalogue price (remember demonstrators get an immediate 20% discount and other perks). You don't have to return anything that you have bought already, including your Starter Kit - that is yours to keep!

So if you are looking for a Big Shot machine, a Simply Scored or a Stampin' Trimmer, this is the time to buy the Starter Kit and get free goods and a free gift.

If you are ready to take advantage of this amazing offer then click here and complete the application form (you must be resident in the UK, France, Germany, Austria or Holland to be able to join the Europe arm of Stampin' Up!).

So what are you waiting for!?!

lotus blossom | white ink stamp layering | video tutorial

23 February 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick video tutorial that uses the free Lotus Blossum/Tant de Joie stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration catalogue (en français). If you are missing any Stampin' Up! catalogues please complete this form and I will ensure that you get copies.

I have seen many tutorials on how to use this stamp set but this video focuses on how to use white ink as part of the layering of the different stamps. The initial idea came from a Jennifer McGuire video on the Hero Arts blog. To enhance this effect you should use a darker or kraft card stock.

Here is the card I produced ~

Here is a close up of the flower produced by the layering ~

You can watch it at YouTube (please remember to select HD) and if you enjoy it please give it a thumbs up so I know you would like more videos from me :)

Here are the steps of the video ~

1. Select your card stock (I used Crumb Cake)
Flower
2. Stamp the *step number 2* stamp with your lighter colour (I used Strawberry Slush)
3. With your White pigment or Kraft ink stamp the *step number 3* stamp, use the arrows on your stamp and the points on your flower to help line up the two stamps
4. Stamp the *step number 1* stamp with  your darker colour (I used Melon Mambo) - again use the arrows on your stamp and the points on your flower for alignment
Stem
5. Stamp the highlight stem stamp (I used Old Olive)
6. Stamp the full stem stamp in white pigment or craft ink

Remember that the white pigment/craft ink can take longer to dry so be careful not to smudge your beautiful work.

I recommended using the Stampin' Mist and the Stampin' Scrub in the video to clean your stamps. The white pigment ink can be difficult to remove and the mist and scrub make easy work of it. Also you should not be concerned that your photopolymer stamps appear stained even when they are clean. I have heard that the better quality stamps will do this and it does not affect the stamping process in any way. I actually prefer the photopolymer stamps as you can see exactly where you are stamping.

In the video I used a kraft card stock, Crumb Cake by Stampin' Up!. I also stamped with a *browner* card stock (Soft Suede by Stampin' Up!) and here is a photo ~

I think that produces an awesome effect too. Just remember the Golden Rule - the white ink needs to be a *pigment* ink and the coloured ink needs to be a *dye* ink.

Here are my supplies ~

I am also entering this card in the SimonSaysStamp Wednesday Challenge - Add a Little Texture.

happy valentine's day | watercolour masking

14 February 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog. Happy Valentine's Day! I have a couple of cards to show today that I created using the masked watercolour hearts technique shown by Kristina Werner recently.

This technique uses Distress Inks but I am sure you could try it with re-inkers but you will not get the *watermark* effect as shown here. This is because Distress Inks are designed to reactivate each time water is added.

Here is the first card ~

By using the Drawing Gum/Liquid Fisket you can create a strong outline for the watercolouring. If you haven't any Drawing Gum you could try just wetting the paper where you will apply the ink and this will produce a more softer effect.

I drew a heart using one of the Heart Collection Framelits and my sentiment comes from the Toi plus Moi stamp set from Stampin' Up!, which you can also get in English here and the sentiment reads *you're sweet*. My sentiment translates as *you make me melt*, which I just love.

Here is a close up ~

I have used clear embossing powder over the top of my black ink to really make the sentiment stand out.

My second card uses a sentiment from Neat & Tangled ~

This one uses more traditional Valentine colours, but I also like the rainbow effect on the first card.

Here are both cards together, which one is your favourite?

Have a great weekend. We are all off work and school next week so I will be spending some time with my family so the blog posts may be a little sparse and I apologise in advance!

balloon shaker card | video tutorial

13 February 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog. The other day I showed a card that I had made with the Stampin' Up! goodies that you can get free with a purchase of £45/€60 or more from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

Today I am back with a card based on this design which is a *shaker*. I love shaker cards, I can't resist picking them up and shaking them at every opportunity!! You might remember that I made Shaker Christmas cards and Shaker Table Decorations too.

I have a full video tutorial too, showing how I construct shaker cards. There are many ways to construct them (believe me I have tried a few!!) and I have found that this is what works for me. I hope you find it helpful too, because boy those sequins can be tricky!!

Here is my card ~

I even managed to capture a rare ray of sunshine too on the photo !

Here is the video, watch it here or on YouTube (remember to watch in HD) and please give it a thumbs up if you would like to see more tutorials from me in the future ~

My card (in fact, quite a few of my projects) make use of the Big Shot die cutting machine. I bought mine around 2 years ago and I haven't looked back since. Whilst it can seem a big investment, it really is such a great item for scrap booking and card making. It comes with the Multi-purpose platform which makes it so much more than a simple die cutter, for example, by using embossing folders.

It makes sense to to buy a more expensive item during Sale-A-Bration too as there additional benefits if you have a shopping list that is around the £300/425€ mark. With SAB you get an additional purchase credit of £20/27€ for a spend at this amount. So with all the hostess credits and one item at 50% you can actually get £457/626€ worth of product (the figures are calculated using the Big Shot as your 50% item) for only £344/477€. Now that is one great opportunity to save £133/149!! But remember, Sale-A-Bration only lasts until 31 March 2015. Please contact me if you are planning a bigger purchase and need help with the Hostess Credits and 50% item calculations.

AND the Big Shot Magnetic Platform (see below) is right now on Weekly Deal at Stampin' Up!. That means it is €12/£10 cheaper than the price shown below - but hurry because you can only get it at this amazing price until Tuesday 16 February 2015!

Here are my supplies from Stampin' Up! ~

happy hearts birthday card

10 February 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am back with another Clean and Simple (CAS) birthday card (well you can never have too many!) and this time I am using the Happy Hearts embossing folder from Stampin' Up! to add some pretty dimension. I think this embossing folder is fast becoming one of my favourites!

Here is my card ~

First up I took some Whisper White card stock cut down to 5.5 x 4.25 inches and ran it through my Big Shot machine inside the Happy Hearts embossing folder. I then adhered this panel to a top folding card base.

Then I chose the third largest heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and cut that from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper that you can get free with a £45/60€ spend at Stampin' Up!

I stamped a sentiment and outline frame from the *Tu comptes pour moi* Hostess set in Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral inks and then die cut this using the matching banner die from the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies set. I sponged around the edge of the heart and the edge of the banner using Coastal Cabana ink and a sponge.

After adding some sewing cotton behind the banner I adhered this and the heart to the card front using dimensional adhesive. Finally I added two rhinestones to the banner as accents.

See, so easy to do.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy card. Have a great day.x
